General description
Kanthal® APM wire is a highly developed powder-metallurgical, dispersion-hardened, ferritic iron-chromium-aluminium alloy (FeCrAl alloy), which is used at tube temperatures of up to 1425 °C. The alloy is characterised by exceptionally good dimensional stability and excellent oxidation resistance. Kanthal® APM wire is only slightly susceptible to ageing and changes in resistance. It has excellent surface oxide properties, providing good protection in corrosive atmospheres and in atmospheres with a high carbon potential. In addition, no scaling occurs.
The unique combination of exceptional oxidation properties and dimensional stability contributes to a long element life. The increased dimensional stability of the alloy reduces the effort required to suspend the element.
Typical applications for Kanthal® APM are high-temperature furnaces for ceramic firing, heat treatment, laboratory furnaces, furnaces for the electronics industries and diffusion furnaces.
